The Model Openness Framework: revised version 5

I call out your attention to the latest revision (v5 last revised 2 Oct 2024) of most cited reference in this discussion:

M. White, I. Haddad, C. Osborne, X.-Y. L. Yanglet, A. Abdelmonsef, and S. Varghese, ‘The Model Openness Framework: Promoting Completeness and Openness for Reproducibility, Transparency, and Usability in Artificial Intelligence v5’, Oct. 02, 2024, arXiv: arXiv:2403.13784. doi: 10.48550/arXiv.2403.13784.

The most significant change is the inclusion of the Model Openness Tool (MoT) (repo) which “evaluates each criterion from the MOF and generates a score based on how well each item is met”.

As you may know, this work being done under the umbrella of LF AI & Data Generative AI Commons, a Linux Foundation project.

I suggest everyone should analyse this tool against the current OSAiD draft.

There is a working document “The Model Openness Framework (MOF) Specification” which “(…) provides a concise version of the MOF in the form of a set of requirements for model distributions to fulfill to be compliant. It focuses on the what rather than the why.” by Arnaud Le Hors and others, from the LF AI & Data Generative AI Commons project.

It is still to be approved on the next General Meeting, so I hold off any more comments on this.
