Technology Innovation Institute (TII) in Abu Dhabi pretending to have "Open Source"

Just look at how much this organization pretends to have “Open Source” and trying to impose on public that their license is open source license:

Thanks for bringing this up. I gave a quick view to their announcement a few weeks ago and noticed that not all of their models have the same license (I had the impression that at least some of them use the Apache 2.0 license without other additions, but I didn’t check carefully.)

Have you looked individually at each model? It’d be valuable to have a list with the license+terms of use/distribution of each of them.

I do not protest for them using “Open Model”, but for claiming to be “Open Source”, implying being free software.

I guess you have not click on that page. Here it is what it says:

Open Source Commitment

In line with our mission to foster AI accessibility and collaboration, all models in the Falcon3 family are released under the Falcon LLM license

License is here:

I had in mind another page, in fact. This one Falcon LLM lists at least two models that are available under the ASL v2.0 (at least according to that website): Falcon 40B and Falcon 7B… not sure if these are older models or something else. This is what’s on the website when I looked at it:

Anyway, at a quick glance the Falcon LLM License seems to have issues like Your copyright license to use the Work shall be royalty free and without charge and the Acceptable Use Policy doesn’t seem to be very practical (if not directly in contrast with OSD#5-6. I’d love to see this properly discussed on license-discuss.
