BASIC is now Open Source

After 50 years, BASIC has now been released under the MIT license:

Microsoft BASIC began in 1975 as the company’s very first product: a BASIC interpreter for the Intel 8080, written by Bill Gates and Paul Allen for the Altair 8800.

I also highly recommend checking Bill Gates’ blog post “Celebrate 50 years of Microsoft with the company’s original source code.”
